The ABM College First Aid training program is designed to teach students how to provide emergency care for someone in need; this may be at home, the workplace, or in a public place. The training is designed to make the learning process enjoyable and simple through a non-stressful environment in which students may practice and apply emergency lifesaving skills.
ABM College is dedicated to providing students with a complete and ongoing solution to meeting CPR and First Aid training compliance standards at home or in the workplace. Our innovative approach to CPR and First Aid training will improve skill retention and increase the rescuer’s ability to respond when faced with a medical emergency.
Through the Canadian Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and AED course material, our training program will deliver essential lifesaving skills that prepare students to save the lives of the public as well as their family members, friends, co-workers and neighbours.
What is CPR?
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or CPR as it’s better known, is a lifesaving technique used in life-threatening medical emergencies such as cardiac arrest, heart attack, and near drowning to name a few. It is performed in an effort to manually preserve brain function until further measures are taken to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing in a person who is in cardiac arrest. It is indicated in those who are unresponsive with no breathing or pulse.
Lives can be saved with CPR, and is imperative for people working in the health care field and other industries to know when and how to perform it. It is important to note that CPR will not restart the heart, but its main purpose is to restore partial flow of oxygenated blood to the brain and other key organs.
