Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology was established in 1967 and was named after the First Nations people who lived in the area. Algonquin was formed from the merger of the Eastern Ontario Institute of Technology, established 1957, and the Ontario Vocational Centre, established 1965. The College celebrates 51 years as a leader in post secondary education, and has undergone significant growth since its establishment and continues to grow today.
With 200 programs of study and 20,000 full time students, Algonquin College is one of Canada’s largest colleges. The college is located in Ottawa, Canada’s vibrant, metropolitan and multicultural capital city. The College proudly nurtures a friendly, student-oriented atmosphere. Students come to Algonquin College from around the world to study English, take second and third year courses within their area of specialization, and to pursue customized skills upgrading and training programs. Algonquin College has partnered with CDI College, a private career college located in the Greater Toronto Area to deliver this program to international students at their campus in Mississauga, Ontario. Students who complete their Algonquin College program of study through CDI College will graduate with an Algonquin College credential. Graduates of this program will thrive with a challenging and rewarding career as an entrepreneur.
The two-year Business – Management and Entrepreneurship Ontario College Diploma program provides students with the knowledge and skills for a successful career in management or ownership of a small or medium-sized enterprise. This program has a strong focus on business trends, developing an entrepreneurial mindset, and innovation in a digital economy. It encourages student creativity, strategic thinking and originality, as they cultivate the skills to start up and run a small business. Students will have the opportunity to explore their talents and creativity through hands-on projects that can be customized to their interests.

College Diploma - Computer Programming
Algonquin College has partnered with CDI College, a private career college located in the Greater Toronto Area to deliver this program to international students at their campus in Mississauga, Ontario. Students who complete their Algonquin College program of study through CDI College will graduate with an Algonquin College credential.
The two-year Computer Programmer Ontario College Diploma program prepares students for a career in software development. The program also specializes in program development strategies (using object-oriented modelling), database design and database administration.
Students will use leading industry software products such as Oracle and CASE tools. They will earn about programming languages such as Java, COBOL, SQL and PHP. Study object-oriented analysis and design, operating systems and coding in integrated environments, and learn how to debug, test, and maintain codes. In their final semester, students will participate in a software development project working with external clients to gain real-world experience in the programming field.
Graduates may work in a variety of different fields, as almost all sectors of industry are programming and database skills. Fields may include:
