Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology was established in 1967 and was named after the First Nations people who lived in the area. Algonquin was formed from the merger of the Eastern Ontario Institute of Technology, established 1957, and the Ontario Vocational Centre, established 1965. The College celebrates 51 years as a leader in post secondary education, and has undergone significant growth since its establishment and continues to grow today.
With 200 programs of study and 20,000 full time students, Algonquin College is one of Canada’s largest colleges. The college is located in Ottawa, Canada’s vibrant, metropolitan and multicultural capital city. The College proudly nurtures a friendly, student-oriented atmosphere. Students come to Algonquin College from around the world to study English, take second and third year courses within their area of specialization, and to pursue customized skills upgrading and training programs. Partnership with CDI: Algonquin College has partnered with CDI College to offer an innovative approach to post-secondary education in Canada for International students. Location: As one of the most diverse areas in Toronto, North York is a collection of multicultural neighbourhoods with Indigenous, Asian, African-Caribbean, African, Middle Eastern, Jewish, Latin American, and European communities. The region is also home to areas like York Mills, Hogg’s Hollow, Bridle Path, and Willowdale. In addition, the region is home to a growing central business district on Yonge Street between Sheppard and Finch Avenues. Once considered a suburb of Toronto, North York has developed into an urban centre in recent years with numerous corporations building office towers and establishing their Canadian headquarters in the area. Students will find a range of shops, restaurants, and personal services in the area around the campus. Along with several bus routes nearby, the campus is a short walk from the North York and Sheppard-Yonge subway lines.
College Diploma - Business - Management and Entrepreneurship
Algonquin College has partnered with CDI College, a private career college located in the Greater Toronto Area to deliver this program to international students at their campus in North York, Ontario. Students who complete their Algonquin College program of study through CDI College will graduate with an Algonquin College credential.
The two-year Business – Management and Entrepreneurship Ontario College Diploma program provides students with the knowledge and skills for a successful career in management or ownership of a small or medium-sized enterprise.
This program has a strong focus on business trends, developing an entrepreneurial mindset, and innovation in a digital economy. It encourages students creativity, strategic thinking and originality, as they cultivate the skills to start up and run a small business.
Students will explore their talents and creativity through hands-on projects that can be customized to their interests. Students will learn about business concepts and how to:

Validate their business through market research

Understand financial information

Students will create a start-up idea that they develop and enhance throughout the program. They will complete multiple team-based projects, including the creation of an online store as well as the presentation of a comprehensive business plan.

College Diploma - Computer Programming
Algonquin College has partnered with CDI College, a private career college located in the Greater Toronto Area to deliver this program to international students at their campus in North York, Ontario. Students who complete their Algonquin College program of study through CDI College will graduate with an Algonquin College credential.
The two-year Computer Programmer Ontario College Diploma program prepares students for a career in software development. The program also specializes in program development strategies (using object-oriented modelling), database design and database administration.
Students will use leading industry software products such as Oracle and CASE tools. Students will learn about programming languages such as Java, COBOL, SQL and PHP. Students will study object-oriented analysis and design, operating systems and coding in integrated environments, and learn how to debug, test, and maintain code.
In their final semester, students will participate in a software development project working with external clients to gain real-world experience in the programming field.
Graduates may work in a variety of different fields, as almost all sectors of industry require programming and database skills. Fields may include:
