Since 1967, Cambrian College has been the leading post-secondary institution in Northern Ontario. The College has a vibrant community of more than 4,800 students and over 1,600 international students from over 40 countries. Cambrian College offers over 80 full-time programs, across three campus locations in northern Ontario: Sudbury, Espanola, and Little Current / Manitoulin Island. As well, Cambrian College provides students with a wide range facilities and support students preparing them for success in today’s competitive work places.

College Diploma - Electromechanical Engineering Technician - Mechatronics
Mechatronics is an emerging field that combines Mechanical Engineering and Electronics, with elements of automation, computer programming and telecommunications. Working in the College’s state-of-the-art lab facilities, students will develop the problem-solving skills and data analysis ability to be a valuable contributor to a wide variety of industrial applications; from industrial equipment design and maintenance to robotics and automation. Students will learn how to use computer-aided design (CAD) to design mechanical components and assemblies in 3D. Students will then take it one step further, and fabricate their design(s) in Cambrian Colleges state-of-the-art machining and fabrication labs. Students will also have unique opportunities to put their skills into practice by working on real community and applied research projects.
Graduates from the Technician diploma may be eligible to register as a Certified Technician (C.Tech) with the Ontario Association of Certified Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
College Diploma - Motive Power Technician - Service and Management
Students in Cambrian College’s Motive Power Technician – Service and Management program get hands-on training servicing gas-powered and hybrid vehicles and learn the ropes of shop management in Cambrian’s state-of-the-art shop. At Cambrian College courses provide students with pre-apprentice training that can be combined with an optional, paid co-op and will prepare students for career and automotive service technician apprenticeship opportunities.
After an introduction to basic work safety and fasteners and hand/pneumatic tools, the courses will be split between hands-on and classroom training in steering suspension and brakes, drivetrains, and engines. As an automotive service technician, students will learn to diagnose and repair complex wiring systems, understand serial data communications, and perform quality repairs. Emissions systems, automatic transmissions, ABS brakes, air conditioning, computer applications, scan tools, lab scopes, and gas analyzers will be explored in depth. Special focus will be placed on electrical and electronic components throughout the program.
This program requires valid language test results
Applicants interested in applying for direct admission, but are yet to complete an acceptable language test, can do so, but must provide valid results before receiving a final offer letter.
This program offers conditional admissions
For conditional admission, instead of submitting language proficiency test scores, applicants may complete English courses prior to the academic program. The length of the English course is determined based on the applicant’s level of English proficiency.
