Since 1967, Cambrian College has been the leading post-secondary institution in Northern Ontario. The College has a vibrant community of more than 4,800 students and over 1,600 international students from over 40 countries. Cambrian College offers over 80 full-time programs, across three campus locations in northern Ontario: Sudbury, Espanola, and Little Current / Manitoulin Island. As well, Cambrian College provides students with a wide range facilities and support students preparing them for success in today’s competitive work places.
At Cambrian College education is the total package students will be given practical, hands-on experience in every program. Why Cambrian College Sudbury
Location: The City of Greater Sudbury, where Cambrian College is based, serves as the education, health care, business, shopping and entertainment hub of Northern Ontario. In addition Greater Sudbury is built on the Sudbury basin, a nearly two-billion year-old impact crater (the second largest on earth!).
Facilities: Cambrian College provides students with numerous facilities ranging from innovative and modern learning spaces, labs, Lounges and workshops. As well, the college top-of-the-line Athletics Centre, gyms, Baseball Diamonds and Soccer fields for students use.
Academic Service: Cambrian College offers students a variety of academic services on campus such as Career and Learning Centres. These services are designed to give students an inside edge today’s competitive market and assist them in launching their careers.
College Diploma - Welding and Fabrication Technician (WFTN)
In Cambrian College’s Welding and Fabrication Technician program, students will work in the welding lab and will take metal fabrication projects from the engineering drawing stage through cutting and forming processes to the welding and inspection phase. Students have the option to start their apprenticeship and will also have unique opportunities to put their welding skills into practice by working on real community and applied research projects.
Cambrian College’s program features an optional, paid co-op directly related to their program of study. During this work-integrated learning experience, students will apply their skills and knowledge in an actual work environment, giving students industry training that they can showcase to potential employers when they graduate.
College Diploma - Heavy Equipment Technician (HDTN)
Whether students want to work as a mechanic in the mines or in construction, must start with the basics; and just like industry, Cambrian College always start with safety. Working with and around Heavy Equipment is about a culture of safety, to recognize potentially dangerous conditions and situations and avoid them; Cambrian College strongly support that way of thinking . There is also so much diversity in this trade, from basic maintenance, brakes, engine repairs and hydraulics, to electronics and autonomous vehicles; students have so many opportunities to find a career in something that is exciting, challenging and rewarding.
Cambrian College works with industry partners to focus their learning on what industry needs to help students be successful in securing a start in their career and to give students the skills to be able to tackle many challenges in life; because as a technician students have been trained to find solutions. Cambrian College also follows the Ontario apprenticeship training standards so students be sure to be getting the right training for the trade to be ready to start their career as a Heavy Equipment Technician apprentice upon graduation.
