On Monday, June 26, Banff, Alberta residents and visitors celebrated the Taste of Cultures event at the famous Whyte Museum. The celebration included dance performances from the Japanese and Filipino groups, free food from various ethnic groups, and live music performance from the band Genesis.
Several tents represented different cultures and organizations to showcase the diversity of cultures in Banff and in Canada in general.
The event was especially important to GLOBE. The company was awarded a certificate of recognition for its corporate support of the event.
“Business thrives when our communities thrive, ” said Abel Pagaling, COO of GLOBE. “We put people first in our company. That’s our commitment to our students, whether they be Canadian students or International Students wanting to come to Canada,” said Abel.
During the event, GLOBE directors Maricar Bernardo and Annabelle Pagaling connected with local first responders to give out certificates of recognition and gift bags to personally thank them for their work and sacrifice during the pandemic.
“They were grateful to be recognized,” said Annabelle. “Some came from out of town to enjoy Banff. They didn’t expect to be recognized. It feels good to recognize them personally.”
“It was a good and smooth flow of the program,” said Maricar. “Foods are good.
A lot of tourists from other communities.“
Maricar also commented on how this can be a bigger event next time. “Maybe with those kinds of events po better to do it on the weekend,” said Maricar. “Since it’s like a family thing. And there will be more people who will come to the event. They ended the program too early. I believe more people could come after school and work hours.”
Overall, GLOBE is grateful to have been given a chance to be one of the sponsors of the event.
“It’s important that we support one another as much as we can,” said Abel.
“A community that comes together grows together.”
