College Diploma - Hospitality – Hotel and Restaurant
In the Hospitality – Hotel and Restaurant program, the focus will be on the practical aspects of hospitality service. The program has been designed so that students develop and acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to enter the workforce and to perform their roles in front-line service. Students will be instructed in mixology, wines, customer service, hotel services, and menu planning and design. They will also be provided with an introduction to managerial concepts including accounting, marketing, law and human resource management.

Graduates of this program may continue their studies at university and may receive credit for their prior College education

Admission Requirements
To be considered, applicants require a secondary school diploma or GBBH degree from an Ontario College or equivalent, including:
• Grade 12 English
• Grade 11 Mathematics
• Recommended: competency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and software
Applicants from non-English-speaking countries must achieve the minimum requirements of an overall IELTS score of 6 and no band less than 5.5 issued in the past 24 months. Duolingo score of 110-115.

• Exemptions may be granted to international students from certain countries who have completed at least 3 years of formal academic studies in which English was the medium of instruction
• Students can also satisfy the English language proficiency requirement by successfully completing the EAP program offered by Hanson Language School. Applicants are required to obtain a minimum score on the English Placement Test before final approval and completion of their registration. As a result of widespread suspension of IELTS and other testing platforms during the COVID-19 pandemic, Cambrian College will temporarily accept the Duolingo English Test, IELTS Indicator and the TOEFL-iBT® Special Home Edition to demonstrate English Proficiency.

College Diploma - Travel and Tourism
The curriculum offers courses in world destinations, selling and customer service, transportation, communication, product knowledge, tour development and management, tourism law, business math, and event management. The students will learn to research, solve problems, be team players, exhibit professionalism and adapt to an ever-changing industry of travel and tourism.
Students will become familiar with:
• World tourist destinations and their local laws and customs
• Basic reservation and booking procedures for airline, hotel, car, cruise, rail and bus
• Both major airline reservation systems, APOLLO BY GEMINI (GALILEO) and SABRE
Students will have an opportunity to further develop practical skills and enrich their industry knowledge by participating in a seven-week-long field placement during their fourth and final semester. With the assistance of a devoted Field Placement Coordinator, students can complete placements in various industry areas to suit their interests.
Completion of the program prepares students to write the Knowledge Exam that is part of the certification requirements to become a Certified Travel Counsellor from CITC. The students are encouraged to become members of the Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors (CITC). This association provides students with the opportunity to participate in seminars and conferences. For more information on becoming a Certified Travel Counsellor, contact CITC at www.citc.ca.

To be considered, applicants require a 2-3 year post-secondary diploma from an Ontario College or equivalent.
Applicants from non-English-speaking countries must achieve the minimum requirements of an overall IELTS score of 6.5 and no band less than 6 issued in the past 24 months. Duolingo score of 120+.
