One of the largest government-funded colleges in Ontario, Mohawk College’s enrollment includes more than 4,000 international students from more than 90 countries around the world. Mohawk College is proud to offer students a rich learning environment that includes an amazing variety of experiential learning opportunities from co-op programs to labs and simulations. The dynamic faculty teaches 170 programs in various specialties which include healthcare, technology and business, skilled trades, as well as a vast array of other subjects. There are over 100 programs open to international students.
The international student population is a thriving part of Mohawk College’s culture. Mohawk College supports international students with dedicated staff, services, social opportunities, language training and more. There are events just for international students, such as student success workshops, film recommendations, coffee clubs to get to know other students, and much more. In addition, international students come from around the world to learn English from English-speaking teachers at Mohawk in the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) ESL programs.
Why Mohawk College - Institute for Applied Health Sciences at McMaster
- Campus: Mohawk College – Institute for Applied Health Sciences at McMaster is located on the grounds of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.
- Facilities: Home to six hospitals and a cancer centre, Hamilton has a great demand for health care practitioners. Led by a world-class faculty, Mohawk College prepares students in outstanding facilities that include the human anatomy and simulation labs, as well as computer and digital labs. Students will complete field and clinical placements with teaching and community hospitals throughout Ontario for enhanced learning in a real health care setting.
- Location: Hamilton is one of Canada’s largest cities with over half a million people. Located 1 hour from Toronto, Hamilton is a vibrant and diverse city. Even though Hamilton is a big city with many restaurants, shops, and art galleries, the city is also known for its nature. Hamilton is the “Waterfall Capital of the World” with over 100 waterfalls in the area. There are thousands of acres of parkland to explore and hike.

College Diploma - Pharmacy Technician
- • Hands-on learning, with a professional focus throughout the program.
- • Outcomes of the program meet the Entry to Practice Competencies for Pharmacy Technicians, set out by the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA). The program has been awarded accreditation for a five year period (2018-2023) by the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP).
- • Work in various intraprofessional and interprofessional teams to enhance learning and appreciation of health care system.
- • Acquire knowledge and skills in the delivery of pharmacy services in both community and hospital practices.
- • Understand legislation and methodology surrounding dispensing prescriptions, preparation and distribution of pharmaceuticals, and drug inventory controls
- • Learn the many uses and classes of available prescription and nonprescription drugs, medical devices, herbals and complementary care medicine products.
- • Apply various compounding techniques in the preparation of sterile and non-sterile pharmaceuticals.
College Diploma - Practical Nursing
This program will foster a collaborative learning environment where students will experience simulated and real-life opportunities in state-of-the-art classrooms and labs. The program can be completed in 16 consecutive months and has a variety of academic pathways for further education and training.
What students will learn
- • They will interact with faculty members who provide structure and act as facilitators through consultation, assisting with group collaborative activities and providing feedback.
- • They will acquire the professional knowledge, skills, accountability and responsibility for nursing practice through curriculum that is grounded in the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) RPN Entry-to-Practice Competencies.
