Founded in 1967, Sheridan has grown from a local college of 400 students to one of Ontario’s leading postsecondary institutions, educating approximately 22,500 full-time studies students every year on three campuses in three Ontario cities – Oakville, Brampton, and Mississauga. Located in the lakeside city of Oakville, just west of Toronto, the Trafalgar Campus is home to more than 9,500 students. This liberal, creative, and artistic campus offers programs in animation, arts and design, advanced film and television, music theatre, business, community studies, liberal arts, applied science and technology, and more. Trafalgar is home to the Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design, which is Canada’s largest arts school with more than 6,000 students. The on-campus gallery is a showcase for student and faculty work, while the hallways boast a constantly renewed exhibition of student creativity. Theatre Sheridan, with two performance theatres, stages several acclaimed productions every year. The campus is also home to the Canadian Music Theatre Project, an incubator for new musicals, which earned renown as the starting point for the highly successful Broadway musical Come From Away.

- Location: Oakville is 30 minutes from downtown Toronto and only an hour’s drive from Niagara Falls. It’s an appealing place, from the old-world feel of downtown to multicultural Kerr Village to the waterfront Village of Bronte. Restaurants, cafés and galleries fill the downtown core, which also hosts the Oakville Jazz Festival during the summer.
College Diploma - Visual and Creative Arts
In this two-year Visual and Creative Arts diploma, students will get rigorous in-studio training in every semester of the program. Students will study 2D and 3D design, observational drawing, colour theory and painting. In second year, they will choose from electives to specialize in areas of interest and build a broader set of marketable skills to help them find work after graduation.
Sheridan has a reputation as one of the best art schools in Canada, and they are globally recognized for their illustration and animation programs. Students will learn art in world-class studios and immerse themselves in their one-of-a-kind creative campus atmosphere. They will also learn from experienced faculty who are connected to galleries, studios, agencies and others in the Greater Toronto Area’s arts scene.
During the second year, students will learn how to apply their studio skills to many art and design related careers, learning the basics of time management and deadlines, project budgeting, writing proposals, and contemporary practices.
College Diploma - Computer Programming
Sheridan’s dedicated professors are constantly working to keep the program current within a rapidly changing industry. A practical applied approach is taken with an emphasis on individual programming skills including the mobile environment, communication skills, problem solving and teamwork. The applied approach is facilitated by an interactive classroom experience. Each student has their own personal laptop and the most current versions of industry standard computer programming software available through Sheridan. Sheridan College offers a well-respected computer programming college credential that will give students many workplace options and pathways to further study. Additionally, students will work on their own laptop in a networked environment that provides round-the-clock access to all course materials from any location through Sheridan’s Learning Management System.
