After two years of being sideline due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Pride Parade Toronto is back with a big bang of colourful in person celebration. CP 24 reported that “Thousands of people lined up on Yonge Street on Sunday afternoon to celebrate the parade.”
The whole stretch of Yonge Street, from Yonge and Dundas to Yonge and College are filled with people who show support to the growing LGBTQ+ community. Toronto Mayor John Tory was also in attendance together with other members of City Council.
This manifests how Torontonians, in particular, and Canadians in general embrace and celebrate the uniqueness of a community regardless of color, race, gender and sexual orientation as well as religion.
Indeed, this is one great recognition and celebration of life and the inherent basic human rights of a community. June’s Pride parade is the culmination of a month-long celebration of LGBTQ+ Community in Toronto.
“Pride Parade is important because it shows our support to a specific movement who are expressing their basic right as human beings,” said Jon Pioquinto, GLOBE Education Manager from Toronto. “Pride parade showcase to the world that regardless of your orientation or perspective in life, everyone deserves to respected with dignity. For me, these are the driving force behind the movement. “
