On June 17th-18th, the famous Markham Village Music Festival held yearly in Markham, Ontario, resume after two years since it was put on hold during the pandemic.
The event included five different stages of entertainment, multicultural foods, craft, and food booths, a farmers’ market, and best of all, a kid’s zone.
A big part of the festival is the performances of over 30 local artists and bands.
GLOBE Education Advisor, Jose Menova attended the event to celebrate with the community.
“It’s a wholesome, family-friendly event for Markham,” says Jose. “It’s really a multicultural taste of Markham. There is music from the Caribbean, Asian, and local bands.”
This year’s headline band was SLOAN, a popular mainstream band.
This year’s event marks the 44th year of the festival. According to the festival website, the Markham Kinsmen started the Markham Village Music Festival back in 1978.
“It’s great to see so many attendees, most of them are not wearing masks,” says Jose. “It’s great to see the community breath again.”
